Featured Single Bell Projects First Parish Church, Saco, Maine First Parish Church, Saco, Maine. In 2004 we committed to expanding our foundry capacity with the addition of a larger furnace, and other required equipment. The first bell to be cast in this larger range was a single swinging bell, a heavy pattern E3 of about 2,750 lbs. for this church, finished and installed in the rebuilt church building in early 2005. This was a replacement for their 1866 Hooper bell, broken in a disastrous fire, and itself incorporating metal from a Revere & Son bell from 1805, that bell having been broken as a result of a fire in the early 1860’s. Thus we continued the line of American bell founders who have served this church; and this bell, we believe perhaps the largest cast in America in 50 years or more, has tied together a history of 200 years of American bell founding, 1805 to 2005.
